With conical frosted glass shade inside brass frame and canopy, decorated with a peirced quatrefoil band. Requires re-wiring
England, circa 1950
This lantern is a melange of many styles, from the Chinese inspired sloping canopy to the Gothic pierced tracery. It is also very much in the tradition of 'mock-tutor', a domestic style of "Merrie England", which was judged cosy and quaint. Though Arts & Crafts in appearance it is probably a later manifestation of post-war vernacular revivalism.
