Fabulous silver-plate fish head decanter, replete with eyes and scales, the head attached with pin and chain, above curving hand-blown glass bottle base with glass handle
The metal fish head would have been dipped into a bath of liquid silver which, together with an electric current, produced a finely and evenly covered surface of silver. This method of plating was called ‘Galvanisation’ and allowed more intricate and complex pieces to be plated
