
Mahogany portable campaign day bed with three caned sections that adjust their angle on a ratchet allowing a flat bed or to raise the back and legs to a variety of comfortable positions, supported on turned legs ending with porcelain and brass casters. There is a removable bar at the foot to stop cushions from sliding off. The back is stamped with logo of “Robinson & Sons of Ilkley” (Yorkshire). There is also a very faded label that is illegible. Robinson took out a patent for this couch March 9, 1878.
The custom made three-part cushion is upholstered in a heavy weight linen while the head cushion is in an leopard skin velvet with leather straps
